10 years ago today a terrible tragedy took place. 2,977 people were killed by a terrorist attack, in the meantime, over 6,000 US troops have been killed because they were sent to fight wars that never should have been started. today, everyone wants to remember ("never forget!") the horrible event that gave GWB an excuse to wage unnecessary wars at the expense of our young men and women, and for what? imo, he is the biggest terrorist of them all and his legacy of terror remains operative. which brings to mind the questions, WHY?? and WTF is wrong with people that their brains do not comprehend the hypocrisy of our country's leaders??

forward motion
A friend on FB made an observation about how a third of the country is poor, and posed the question as to why there isn't a revolution. I got to thinking, what would that look like today?—a revolution... I got up from my computer and walked to the open window where I was greeted by a steady beat of raindrops and a rauckus myriad of frogs and crickets. Their voices stood out above the rhythmic drizzle - frantic sounding - like a battle cry or an anguishing lament. I mused, however, that each creature is only speaking its voice – not in a scream or a shout, just the voice nature gave it – the one that reflects what that creature truly IS. It is the unison of a multitude of voices that gives strength to the message. For too long have we allowed the divisive forces guide us. It is time to shift our focus away from the enemy and toward the goal, as one united throng. We have to speak frankly about what social justice entails and work hard toward achieving it, which means truly knowing what kind of world we want--not just what we don't want in the world.
maniacal ramblings indeed ... however ...
the next thing I stumled upon was this: www.cesj.org/thirdway/comparison3rdway.htm

forward motion toward a better way

Why it's so important to teach our children to think for themselves
Our public school system today has become a perfect medium for pushing government propaganda and dogmatic so-called patriotism. It's curricula, policies, and disciplinary procedures ensure that our children are under-educated, overmedicated, and pummeled with the same rhetoric over and over again. Add to that the possible humiliation of being labeled as ADHD, Learning Disabled, a Disciplinary Problem, etc. for questioning the rules or failing to properly "fit" into a one-dogma-fits-all box, and you are on your way to creating the perfect society of little robots--who grow up to be big robots.
Our children are taught to react with fervent pride to the calling out of key catch phrases ("we the people" "I have a dream" "liberty and justice for all" etc.) - without any knowledge as to the context in which they were spoken - so that the mere utterance of one or more of these phrases calls them to "patriotic" attention, with no regard to the words spoken around them or what the agenda of the person speaking them might truly be. This is how our school system has created many unthinking individuals who fail to truly consider all sides of a matter before deciding for themselves what is true and right.
